Feel It to Heal It

You Need To Feel it to Heal It.
– Soulve

When people say “feelings,” we usually think of stuff like hunger, exhaustion, or freezing our butts off in winter. But the emotional kind? We’re often taught to shove those down or slap on a fake smile and carry on.

Here’s the truth: emotions are here for a reason.

There are six core ones — happiness, sadness, fear, anger, disgust, and surprise — and everything else is just a remix. Think of them like primary colours, blending into an entire emotional rainbow.

But instead of welcoming them in, most of us wrestle feelings like a rogue beach ball in a swimming pool.

You know that feeling — straining to shove it under the water, only for it to pop up wilder than before? That’s what happens when you resist your feelings. But if you stop wrestling and float beside it, just observing… the current will gently carry it away.

We’re not taught this stuff. We grew up hearing things like “stop overreacting,” “buck up sissy-pants,” or “you’ll be fine.” So we learned to ignore our emotions — and that just made them louder.

But here’s your power move: start naming them.

“This is sadness.”
“This is fear.”
“This is anger with sparkles.”

When you name a feeling, you tame it. And suddenly, you’re no longer being yanked around by your inner world — you’re learning from it.

  • Anger tells you something’s not okay.
  • Fear keeps you alert.
  • Sadness shows you what matters.
  • Even joy reminds you what lights you up.
